shakespeare's sonnets

This set of works is essentially an exploration of the decision-making processes that we consciously and unconsciously use all the time as we develop our ideas, as well as an effort to express familiar written language in another, visual form. From the original collaged and painted pieces through their various transformations via the computer, the images grew to their finished form. Avenues were abandoned, back-tracking led down other paths, until I could recognise the "finished" work. In my mind as I glued and painted and clicked words inevitably invaded my mind, demanding association with what I was creating in colour, texture and form. Shakespeare's sonnets and their subject matter of love, its complications and varied emotions, from first glimpse to the dying of love, involve you now as then in the full kaleidoscope of feelings, and contained the resolution of the mental and visual elements with which I was working.

There are no enlarged images of this set of work due to their actual small size (6cm x 4.75cm), athough larger versions up to about twice that size are available.
